Along the riverbanks of Dhaka, large cargo vessels are repaired through manual labor. Workers remove layers of rust, reshape metal surfaces and repaint hulls using simple tools such as hammers and chisels, often working with their bare hands and with limited protective gear.

The work takes place in constant noise from hammering and metal impact. Workers operate directly on the vessels, at height and around heavy materials, where falling objects and unstable footing present ongoing risks.
