Kodungalloor Bharani is an annual temple festival held at the Kodungalloor Bhagavathy Temple in Kerala, dedicated to the goddess Kali.

Central to the festival are the Velichappadus, ritual oracles and mediums, typically dressed in red, who are understood to channel the presence and energy of the goddess. Within the ritual, they act as intermediaries, conveying this presence to the surrounding community. During the ceremony, the Velichappadus enter states understood as possession, expressed through repetitive movement, vocalization, and physical acts. As part of the ritual, they strike their foreheads with sickles, producing visible bleeding, which is offered as a form of devotion and sacrifice to the goddess.

The festival draws thousands of pilgrims, with continuous drumming and chanting accompanying the rituals. Animal sacrifice is no longer practiced and offerings of red cloth are made to the goddess in its place.
